MyProspectorLITE User Group

Oct. 23, 2006 | Wayne Hohler, MyProspectorLITE.com

When we started MyProspectorLITE last summer, we also began a MyProspectorLITE User Group on Google Groups for mortgage professionals using our system. If you are already a member of this user group, then you have probably seen some of the announcements we've posted there in an email from the group.

We started the MyProspectorLITE User Group for several reasons. We thought it would be good to have a forum for us to communicate to everyone about upcoming features in MyProspectorLITE and get feedback. More importantly, we thought it would be a great way for originators to have ongoing discussions about the mortgage industry and our software with other originators.

It is important to note that we do not want the Group to be a portal for spamming messages to the members or for members to flame each other, so we made it a moderated user group. Anything that looks like spam we try to catch and remove before it ever gets posted. Anything else, we pretty much let go through and get posted to the forum.

Signing Up

If you are not already a member of the Group, you can subscribe by using the Google Groups box at the bottom of just about every page at MyProspectorLITE. Simply enter your email address and click the "Subscribe" button.

You will be directed to page that tells you you are Almost There! This page tells you that an email has been sent that you will need to reply to to activate your account on the MyProspectorLITE Group. You will not be able to post to the Group until you reply to the email.

This step is necessary to ensure that the users in the Group are who they say they are and that the email addresses are valid to keep the list clean.

When the email arrives, it will come from
no-reply@googlegroups.com and the Subject will be "Confirm your subscription".

Click on the confirmation link provided in the email message. If the link does not work for any reason, you can copy the link and past it into the address bar of your browser.

You will be brought to a "Congratulations" page that tells you that you can now Join or Sign-In to the Group. You can begin posting as soon as you sign in.

Creating A Password

Unfortunately you aren't done yet. The way Google Groups is set up you will still need to create an account on Google groups and create a password. When you get to the Congratulations page click the "Join" link near the bottom of the text.

The "Join" link will bring you to the New Account page. If the "Join" link does not work or you are directed to a different page, you can go directly to the New Account page using this URL: https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount.

Enter the same email address you used to subscribe to the MyProspectorLITE User Group and create a password. You will need to enter your password twice for confirmation. You will also need to complete any other required form fields on the page.

When you have completed the form, click the "Create my Account" button at the bottom of the form. Google Groups will send you another email to verify your account. You will need to click the link in the new email message to activate your account. Once you have confirmed your account, you are ready to Sign-In and start posting to the MyProspectorLITE User Group.

Getting to the User Group

The easiest way to get to the MyProspectorLITE User Group is through the "Browse Archives" link on the bottom of the MyProspectorLITE pages in the Google Groups box. This link will take you directly to the MyProspectorLITE User Group. You do not need to sign in unless you plan on posting a message to the Group.

To sign in use the link located on the upper left corner of the page, under the Google Groups logo. Once you sign in you will be able to start a new topic or reply to a topic that is already there. We only moderate messages we believe to be spam or counter-productive to the Group.

We invite all members of the MyProspectorLITE community to participate in the Group forum. If you know anyone who has not signed up for MyProspectorLITE but would like to join the forum, we have no problem with that. The forum is open to everyone in the mortgage industry. And we would appreciate if you let them know they can sign up for MyProspectorLITE anytime, it's FREE!
